One Year Anniversary
The Challenge
Gary has a reputation. But reputations rarely tell the whole story. Flourish Church was one year into building something new in a city with plenty of stories worth telling, and their anniversary video needed to capture more than what happened during their first year. It needed to capture what Flourish felt like to the people who were there.
The Idea
Instead of having someone explain what Flourish Church had accomplished, we let the people who experienced it tell the story. We interviewed members about their first year at Flourish, what it meant to them, and what they believed the next year could look like. The result would be less of an anniversary recap and more of a portrait of a church becoming something.
The Execution
We built the piece around the voices and personalities of the people who make Flourish what it is. Their reflections, memories, hopes, and emotions became the structure of the story, supported by footage that brought those moments back to life. Rather than trying to manufacture emotion, we gave real people the space to create it themselves.
The Result
The finished film became more than a one-year recap. Flourish was able to share it during Sunday service and use it across social media as a hero piece for their first year. Most importantly, it captured something difficult to put into words: a group of people building something meaningful together in Gary, one year at a time. We're proud that Handprint gets to be a small part of that story.
